Kazakhstan's oil production (excluding condensate) fell 3% to 1.55 million barrels per day in May from April, according to Reuters calculations based on data shown on Monday by two sources familiar with preliminary data, according to the Hydrocarbon Processing network.

Kazakhstan's oil production in May was in line with the country's quota under the Opec + deal, while taking into account voluntary production cuts of 78,000 BPD. The country's energy ministry did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.

According to people familiar with the matter, the decline in Kazakhstan's oil production in May compared to April was mainly due to lower production from large fields, as follows: Kashagan, which saw an 8% decrease in production due to the accumulation of hydrogen sulfide in two Wells; Karachaganak, down 6%; Tangiz, down 1%; Kazmunaigaz, down 4%.

Regular maintenance of Kazakhstan's large oil and gas fields will be carried out in Tengiz in August and Karachaganak in October this year.
