The U.S. offshore rig count is on the rise

The number of RIGS offshore in the U.S. rose by 3 last week, according to the Baker Hughes weekly rig Count report. The total number of RIGS in operation in the United States also rose to 754 from 746 the previous week. After the number of U.S. offshore RIGS in service fell to 14, Baker Hughes disclosed Friday, March 17, 2023, that the number of those RIGS rose to 17 last week. In addition, the number of offshore RIGS increased by five year-on-year. In addition, the firm highlighted that the total number of active US RIGS (both onshore and offshore) rose by eight last week, climbing to 754, up 91 from 663 last year, with oil RIGS up 65, gas RIGS up 25 and miscellaneous RIGS up one.

The U.S. oil rig count rose by 1 to 589, gas RIGS rose by 9 to 162, and miscellaneous RIGS remained unchanged at 3, compared with the previous week's data. However, compared with the previous week, the total number of active RIGS in Canada fell by 16 to 207, oil RIGS fell by 17 to 122 and gas RIGS rose by one to 85.
