Global primary energy demand is expected to surge by 23 percent by 2045, Opec's secretary general said, adding that it will take all resources to meet the growing demand.
According to Reuters, Opec's secretary general told an oil conference in Nigeria that "global primary energy demand is forecast to increase significantly by 23 percent by 2045, which means we need all forms of energy".
Oil will continue to play an important role in the future energy mix. By 2045, meeting oil demand alone will require investments of up to $12.1 trillion. But he added that the industry was not yet on track to reach that level of investment.
