China's total oil and gas production hit a record high in the first seven months of this year, strongly supporting economic and social development and people's livelihood needs, the National Energy Administration said on August 18.
A person in charge of the National Energy Administration introduced that from January to July this year, domestic crude oil production reached 120 million tons, up 3.7% year-on-year; Natural gas output was 126.7 billion cubic meters, up 5.4 percent year on year. New breakthroughs were also made in the development of onshore unconventional oil and gas and offshore oil and gas. The production of shale oil, offshore crude oil and offshore natural gas grew by 14.4%, 7.9% and 13.6%, respectively, compared with the same period last year, showing important potential for future oil and gas development.
In terms of imports, from January to July this year, China imported 290 million tons of crude oil and 86.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas. The overall stability of the imports has played a positive role in ensuring the stable supply of energy.
