CNPC's logging technology to avoid fiber-optic directional perforation comes out on top

China Petroleum News (special reporter Tan Yixin, correspondent Ma Ziqiang) From September 22 to 23, the 2022 Oil and Gas Well Perforating Technology Seminar hosted by the Logging Professional Committee of the China Petroleum Society was held in Yangzhou, Jiangsu. More than 130 experts and scholars from 53 domestic and foreign units including PetroChina, Sinopec, CNOOC, Schlumberger, etc. attended the seminar. The "Research and Application of Directional Perforating Technology for Horizontal Well Casing Avoidance Fiber Optics" submitted by CNPC Logging won the first prize among 60 papers and won the special prize. 


The horizontal well casing avoids the fiber optic directional perforation technology, which is an innovative "three-zone" perforating method proposed by CNPC Logging to focus on the construction of smart oilfields and to meet the needs of dynamic monitoring of oilfields with optical fibers. This technology breaks the conventional thinking of conventional bridge-shooting, and integrates magnetic induction detection technology and gravity orientation technology to achieve the purpose of accurately avoiding optical fiber perforation in the safe area, and provide strong technical support and safety guarantee for the subsequent dynamic production data monitoring of oil and gas wells. At present, the technology has been promoted and used 50 times in Zhejiang Oilfield Zhaotong National Shale Gas Demonstration Area in northern Yunnan and Guizhou, and Jinlong Well Area in Xinjiang Oilfield, etc., to help oil and gas exploration and development. 


This technology can effectively take into account the problems of optical fiber safety and efficient reservoir reconstruction in the process of oil and gas exploration and development. It is the product of the close combination of two professional technologies of logging and perforation.
