On May 1, the press office of Sinopec learned that Sinopec's "Shendi No.1" Yuejin 3-3XC well in Tarim Basin was spudding. The design depth of the well is 9,472 meters, which will set a new record for the deepest well in Asia. It will also prove once again that China's deep Earth series technology has stepped into the forefront of the world, providing important technology and equipment reserves for entering the ultra-deep depth of 10,000 meters.
Shendi No.1 Yuejin 3-3XC well is located in Shaya County, Aksu Prefecture, Xinjiang Province, on the edge of the Taklimakan Desert. Previously, it only took 4.5 days to seal the upper 1,500 meters. This time, it is designed to drill the carboniferous strata in 21 days, setting a new speed and efficiency record for this zone. The well was drilled by Sinopec Petroleum Engineering Company and provided related technical services.
